It is one of the latest flagship phone available in India in a sub 20K price
range by Xiaomi. Here are some of the pros and cons of this phone.
Pros:
1) Superb IPS retina display with awesome pixel density. The screen brightness
is very good and the viewing angle is also fine.
2) Ultimate performance. The phone is lightening fast as a result of 2.5 GHz
snapdragon 800 processor which is one of the fastest processor at present.
3) The build quality is awesome. The design is very attractive.
4) It has really a great camera with great camera UI. It is the best
camera available in any of the Xiaomi devices till now.
5) It has very beautiful User Interface which is very easy to get used to.
After using MIUI you would not want to go back to stock android.
6) Almost all utilities already integrated with MIUI (FTP server, call
recording /blocking etc, antivirus, torch along with so many ingenious
features that youd typically download an app for. The skin does bear a
strong resemblance to the iOS, but is far more open and useful than the
iOS.
7) It has IR blaster to control TVs, Set top boxes, A/C etc. So no need to
keep multiple remote contols for every device anymore.
8) It has 3 gb of RAM which is a unique feature for a phone below 20000 INR
price tag.
Cons:
1) A little heavy. It is quite bigger in size and also quite heavy.
2) It gets warm while playing resource hungry games at length and while
charging which might be probably due to its metal frame.
3) It doesn't have Near Field Communication (NFC) system.
4) The biggest drawback of this phone is that it doesn't support 4g.
5) The memory is non expandable but you can connect a pen drive with OTG
for periodic backups if needed.
6) It is available in only one colour and that is white which tends to
get dirty after a while. There should have been other colour options.
7) The battery is not so great. Although Mi4 boasts of a huge 3080 mAh
battery but it doesn't even last a day probably because of such a big
screen size.
8) The speakers are good enough but not so great. The previous version Mi3
had much better speakers.
9) The battery takes a lot of time to recharge back. It takes almost 3
hours to go from zero to full.
For those of you who are still wondering if Corning OGS glass on Mi4 is as good as the GG3 (which Xiaomi used on Mi3 for India), please read the MingJian CEO blog where Mi4 and OnePlus One have been compared with iPhone 6 and 6 . The review is ICRT certified and should hold some credibility I believe. It is quoted there that Mi4s screen showed best scratch resistance. Mine didn't get a scratch for almost a day while I hunted for a screen guard, however I was very mindful of sand which can cause more damage than knives when it comes to Corning glasses.
So, if you need a world class phone which gives you a great performance and
not just outer looks then just go ahead and buy it. You will not regret your
decision. It is a perfect choice for performance lovers.
